A Toronto AI-inference chip startup selling speedAI accelerators and the imAIgine SDK. PitchBook data cited by The Logic puts its funding at US$168M from backers including CPP Investments, Intel Capital and Radical Ventures, with the last major round in July 2021. In early June 2025 AMD took its engineering team in an undisclosed deal, and Untether said it would 'no longer be supplying or supporting our speedAI products and imAIgine software development kit.' The engineers went to work on AMD's AI compiler, kernel and chip-design efforts.
Collateral damage: speedAI hardware customers lost all supply and support, with no migration path named.
