Google's open-source (Apache-2.0) terminal coding agent launched June 25, 2025 and passed 100,000 GitHub stars and 6,000 merged pull requests. At I/O on May 19, 2026 Google folded its developer tools under the Antigravity brand, and on June 18 Gemini CLI and the Gemini Code Assist IDE extensions stopped serving free users, Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers and free individual Code Assist users. Their replacement, Antigravity CLI (agy), ships as a binary with no public repo. Code Assist Standard and Enterprise licenses and paid API keys kept access, and Google still updates the open-source repo for them: the code survived, the free users didn't.
