Google Labs' AI concepting board: an open canvas where Google's Nano Banana image model generated, remixed and edited pictures into mood boards and presentations. It launched as a US-only public beta on September 23, 2025, spread to more than 180 countries that October, and was taken offline on September 28, 2026, a year and five days later. Google said it had 'learned a lot from this experiment' and would apply the lessons to 'future Google Labs explorations and creative tooling.' It follows Whisk and Doppl, two other Labs experiments Google shut down on April 30, 2026.
Collateral damage: Boards, generated images, uploaded assets and prompt history were permanently deleted, and shared board links and presentations stopped working. Export was one board at a time, as a zip of PNGs.
