OpenAI's largest single cull. On October 23, 2026 it shut down GPT-4 Turbo (gpt-4-turbo and gpt-4-1106-preview, launched at DevDay in November 2023), most of its first reasoning generation (o1, o1-pro, o3-mini and o4-mini), plus gpt-4o-2024-05-13, gpt-4.1-nano and gpt-image-1, together with gpt-4 and gpt-3.5-turbo. Fine-tunes on every one of them died the same day. The notice went out April 22: six months for one of the biggest migrations in API history. Replacements are the gpt-5.6 models and gpt-image-2.5.
