Microsoft's experimental sandbox for consumer Copilot, launched October 1, 2024 with Think Deeper, with Copilot Vision following soon after. Its biggest graduates had long since moved into the main app. On September 29, 2026 Labs was retired as part of the unified Copilot app, and Microsoft pointed early-access users to 'Frontier in Copilot' and the MAI Playground. What remained, experiments such as 3D and audio generation, died with it.
Collateral damage: 3D assets, audio clips and other content generated in Labs experiments did not carry forward unless downloaded before the account update.
