TruckSmarter ran a free load board used by more than 500,000 carriers. In September 2025, alongside a $16M round led by Socium Ventures, it launched Dispatch, an AI chat interface where drivers asked for freight in plain language and software agents handled the bidding and booking. On Tuesday, September 1, 2026 it told users it was being acquired, and on Friday, September 4 it switched the app off. Nobody will say who bought it; OTR Solutions, which had bought the factoring and banking arm in November 2025, says it wasn't them.
Collateral damage: Active Dispatch subscriptions were cancelled on September 4; invoices paid in the previous 30 days were refunded within seven business days.
