The confidential-computing startup out of UC Berkeley's RISELab, built so AI systems could work on sensitive data that even the hardware operator cannot read, and later on verifying what AI agents do. It raised a $24M Series B at a $300M valuation in February 2026. Eight months later its site announced that the team 'is joining Anthropic to carry our work forward, and Opaque Systems is winding down its operations.' Anthropic, already a customer, disclosed no terms, and Opaque has not said what happens to the customers it leaves behind.
